Mago, a French startup pioneering AI-driven video transformation and stylisation, has raised €1.5 million in pre-seed funding from Berlin-based Atlantic Labs. The funds will be used to expand its team, fast-track product development, and prepare for a market launch scheduled for early 2025.
Mago’s cutting-edge platform aims to transform video production by blending professional-grade precision with artistic flexibility. Co-founded by Aleksandr Spirin and Alvaro Lamarche Toloza, the company builds on Spirin’s open-source project, WarpFusion, and targets creative professionals such as freelancers, studios, and agencies.
Redefining Creativity in Video Production
“Think of it as a universal filter for professional video, offering complete creative control and freedom,” said co-founder Alvaro Lamarche Toloza. “By accelerating production pipelines, we empower creators to do more with less, while preserving human creativity. Our goal is to amplify creative capabilities, not replace them.”
The platform allows users to transform live-action footage into any artistic or aesthetic style—ranging from animation to oil painting—while maintaining professional-grade quality. With an intuitive interface tailored for AI-driven workflows, creators can maintain full control and visibility throughout the process. Planned integrations with popular software like Unreal Engine and Blender, as well as flexible deployment options (SaaS and on-premise), are set to further enhance its capabilities.
Backing from Industry Leaders
Alice Bardon Catineau of Atlantic Labs underscored Mago’s transformative potential:
“Mago’s approach to video production with AI is a game-changer for creators. Alvaro and Aleksandr bring a wealth of industry experience and a clear vision. We’re thrilled to support their mission to take this innovative technology from France to the world.”
Tackling Cost and Complexity
Mago addresses significant challenges in the fast-growing video production market. Non-realistic content creation, such as animation, is often prohibitively expensive—costing up to €300,000 per minute. By leveraging generative AI, Mago aims to simplify these workflows, making high-quality stylisation more accessible and cost-effective for industries like film, animation, gaming, and advertising.
With its funding secured and a strong vision, Mago is poised to redefine the future of video production, offering creators unparalleled tools to enhance their work without compromising creativity.
