TastyUrban Secures €6.5 Million to Revolutionize Digital-First Restaurant Franchising

TastyUrban raises €6.5 million to create the largest digital-first restaurant franchise

Berlin-based food-tech startup TastyUrban has raised €6.5 million in fresh funding to accelerate its international expansion and roll out additional digital-first restaurant brands. The investment round was led by IBB Ventures, with participation from Fulcrum, Monte Carlo Capital, and returning backers Earlybird-X and Cardumen Capital.

TastyUrban, founded in 2022 by industry veterans Felix Chrobog, Marc Hansell, and Gerry Pidgeon, has rapidly emerged as a game-changer in the food service industry. By licensing out innovative food brands to underutilized restaurant and retail partners, the company provides a cost-effective model that generates additional revenue without the need for infrastructure investment.

“We are not only solving a real issue for restaurateurs by optimizing their kitchen performance and processes, generating significant incremental revenue for them, but we are also enabling small business owners to access and license our brands with minimal investment,” said Felix Chrobog, CEO and Co-founder of TastyUrban.

Transforming Underutilized Kitchens into Profit Centers

TastyUrban taps into an industry-wide challenge: the increasing struggle of traditional restaurants to remain profitable in a landscape dominated by food delivery services. With 60% of new restaurants failing within their first year and 80% closing within five years, TastyUrban’s model offers a viable solution. The company’s data-driven approach identifies global food trends and local cuisine gaps, allowing it to introduce brands that cater to evolving consumer demands.

By partnering with over 80 restaurants across 25 German cities, TastyUrban integrates seamlessly with major delivery platforms like UberEats, Wolt, and Lieferando. Its portfolio includes brands such as Birdie Birdie, Nanuh, and Fly Dumplings, with more in development spanning fast-casual, fresh, and health-focused concepts.

A New Era of Digital-First Franchising

Unlike traditional restaurant franchises that require significant upfront capital and operational overhauls, TastyUrban’s asset-light licensing model allows existing restaurants to adopt new brands with minimal investment. Host kitchens leverage their current infrastructure and staff to introduce additional revenue streams, while small business owners gain access to scalable and well-researched food brands without the prohibitive costs of traditional franchising.

“We believe that TastyUrban’s multi-brand approach aligns perfectly with current consumer and food trends,” said Roman Pimonov, Investment Manager at IBB Ventures. “By enabling restaurant owners to massively boost their revenues and accelerating time-to-market for new products—especially in underserved geographies—TastyUrban is redefining what’s possible in food delivery.”

Scaling for Global Impact

With its latest funding round, TastyUrban is poised to expand beyond Germany, bringing its digital-first restaurant franchise model to new international markets. As online food delivery continues to reshape the industry, the company’s ability to rapidly deploy brands and optimize kitchen utilization presents a compelling blueprint for the future of dining.

As the demand for convenient, high-quality food grows, TastyUrban’s innovative approach could set a new standard for how restaurants operate, thrive, and scale in an increasingly digital world.
