Ferm Labs AG has raised €3 million in Seed funding to expand production and commercialisation of its clean-label flavor ingredients platform.
The Round
The round was led by CDP Venture Capital through its Green Transition Fund / NextGenerationEU. Other investors included Fund F, Redstone in collaboration with Euregio+, Alpine VC, and Loacker Group.
The Technology
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, Ferm Labs develops flavor and function ingredients using non-GMO microbes and upcycled low-value sidestreams. Its flagship product, Kokumesan, is a clean-label flavor builder designed for food manufacturers, positioning the company as a Swiss-Italian ingredient innovator built around proprietary, high-yield bioprocessing platforms.
What’s Next
The new capital will be used to expand bioprocessing capacity in South Tyrol, grow the company’s European B2B sales team, and scale R&D for new product categories. The funding is aimed at supporting the broader commercialisation of Kokumesan as Ferm Labs looks to build out its position in the food ingredient market.
Use of Funds
Ferm Labs plans to use the capital to:
- Expand bioprocessing capacity in South Tyrol
