Oxford Medical Simulation Secures €5.78 Million to Tackle Healthcare Training Gap with Virtual Reality

Oxford Medical Simulation (OMS), a UK-based startup providing AI-driven virtual reality healthcare training, has raised €5.78 million (£5 million) in growth funding from Salica Investments. The capital will support OMS’s expansion into US health systems and academic institutions, enhance product innovation, and strengthen the infrastructure needed to deliver safer, more effective clinical training.

“This financing allows us to invest confidently in the next phase of OMS,” said Michael Wallace, CEO. “Our partners in US healthcare and academia are focused on outcomes—safer practice, better-prepared staff, and more efficient delivery. Growth capital from Salica enables us to expand our content, deepen analytics capabilities, and support more institutions in transforming training for the next generation of learners.”

Founded in 2017 by Michael Wallace and Dr Jack Pottle, OMS designs and delivers fully interactive VR simulations for healthcare professionals and students. Using VR headsets, learners can practice clinical scenarios in realistic, AI-driven environments, receive personalized feedback, and repeat exercises as often as needed to hone their skills.

OMS has a proven funding track record: in 2024, it completed a €10.9 million ($12.6 million) Series A round led by Frog Capital, and in 2022, it raised approximately €2.4 million with support from ACF Investors.

“Oxford Medical Simulation is exactly the type of business we look to support. The team has built a differentiated platform, proven at scale, and is helping clinicians and students practice safely,” said Usman Ali, Partner at Salica.

Salica Investments, originally an investment firm focusing on promising UK businesses, now manages multiple private market funds investing across equity and debt. Last year, it announced the first close of its €173.5 million (£150 million) Growth Debt Fund II.

With this latest round, OMS is positioned to expand its reach in the US, innovate with AI-driven scenarios and workflow tools, and continue transforming healthcare training through virtual reality.
