Swedish forest company Södra is calling on entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators to help find the next generation of measures against wildlife browsing damage in forests. Applications are open until 30 November 2026.
The Problem
Browsing by wildlife on forest plants and young stands costs forest owners across southern Sweden a great deal of money every year. It has major implications for both forest growth and future forest value, yet Södra says there are still too few solutions that fully meet the needs of practical forestry.
What Södra Is Looking For
The challenge is not about repellents that are already sold and used against browsing damage. Södra wants new ideas, as well as finished products, technologies and solutions from other sectors that could be used in a new way in forestry. These could range from:
- New materials and protection systems
- Sensor technology
- AI and image analysis
- Light- or sound-based solutions
- Biological methods
- Entirely different ideas
A solution may already be finished and on the market, but need testing, adapting or further development for forestry. The call is deliberately broad. What matters is that the solution can reduce browsing damage, works in practice and creates value for forest owners, ideally through collaboration between developers, researchers and Södra.
From Idea to Verification
For the most interesting proposals, Södra will discuss how the solution could be verified, tested and developed further together. The aim is to find solutions that deliver real value to forest owners and contribute to more robust forestry.
How to Apply
Applications go through an online form on Södra’s website by 30 November 2026. Södra’s contacts are Matej Domevscik for wildlife questions and Fredrik Tärneberg for business questions.
