Seville-based company Kampaoh has notched up an impressive revenue of €23 million as it sets its sights on expanding the world of “glamping” to even more destinations. Specializing in providing luxurious and sustainable tented accommodations, Kampaoh successfully concluded a dynamic 2023, marked by its foray into new European markets, including France, Italy, and Portugal, contributing to 6.5% of the company’s overall turnover.
Founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Salvador Lora, Kampaoh has experienced phenomenal growth, skyrocketing its revenue from an initial €45,000 to an impressive €23 million in just seven years. Offering a portfolio of 3,500 accommodations spread across 83 campsites, the brand’s success stems from an innovative concept that Salvador Lora envisioned during a holiday trip with his wife and sister-in-law to the Dominican Republic, leading to the birth of “easy and beautiful” camping.
Luxury, for Kampaoh, goes beyond opulence; it’s about creating unforgettable experiences while respecting the environment. Salvador Lora, the president and founder of Kampaoh, expresses pride in the company’s success, stating, “Our goal is to continue to innovate to meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers and ensure the best possible holiday without the hassle.”
The journey began with Lora’s personal investment of €5,000 in 2016, kickstarting the venture with the support of FFF (Family, Friends & Fools), allowing Kampaoh to grow steadily and organically over four years. In 2020, Encomenda Smart Capital demonstrated interest, contributing close to €500k, a crucial investment amidst the challenges of 2021 marked by the pandemic. This was followed by injections from other investment funds, including Alter Capital, Axon Partners Group, and JME Ventures, totaling €14 million at the close of 2022, fueling Kampaoh’s growth and internationalization in 2023.
Noteworthy is the company’s consolidation in the North of Spain in the same year, positioning it as the second-highest revenue-generating region after Andalusia.
Kampaoh’s business model has reshaped possibilities in the tourism sector, offering travelers high-quality, sustainable, and environmentally friendly experiences. The company meticulously selects campsites for implementing its handmade tents, crafted in Seville workshops, ensuring the best holiday experiences for customers.
Looking ahead to 2024, Kampaoh has ambitious plans, intending to elevate the camping experience by adding fully-managed campsites to its Spanish catalog. With a forecasted turnover of €40 million, representing a remarkable 74% increase from the previous year, Kampaoh aims to expand its presence by 25%, growing from 80 to 100 campsites and reaching 5,000 shops across the four countries where it operates. Additionally, the company is set to strengthen its global footprint by venturing into more exotic destinations, including the Philippines and the Dominican Republic.
