Short Interview with Purple Egg Owner
What is the story behind your company?
I have been in the real estate business for quite a while, but due to changes in my extended family, I had to pack everything up and move to a new location. I wanted a name that was unique, yet easy to remember. After trying a few names, this one stuck, plus the domain name was available.
What does success mean to you and your company?
The company will be a success if it plays a key role in my ability to retire without having to significantly worry about finances. The company will be a success if the revenue grows 20% year and year while maintaining the same level of expenses.
What is your plan of action for the next 5 years to sustain and grow your business?
I just moved to a highly touristy area, so to me it’s a given I need to move into the Airbnb business. My goal is to increase the number of units I own, as well as rent out other units that I can Airbnb. In 5 years, I want to be the top Airbnb person for all locations immediately outside the hotspots. To achieve this, I’ll continue to advertise and reach out to prospective clients.
Who are your biggest competitors, and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
I focus on areas about 30 minutes away from the highly touristy spots. In these areas, my main competition is mom-and-pop operators, they often own 1-2 units and do it as a side hustle. I differentiate myself by running it as a business, I treat my customers well, and I make sure it’s as efficient as possible as I want my units fully occupied as possible.
