Opstart welcomes Banca Valsabbina in the world of crowdfunding and in its corporate structure: the Brescia-based bank acquires in fact 9% of the capital, enlarging its “Fintech Network” and continuing with a strategy already started and consolidated, aimed at the real economy.
The collaboration with Opstart – which today is the only true fintech hub at European level, first for variety of alternative finance instruments offered, with online portals of “equitycrowdfunding” (placement of equity capital),”debt crowdfunding” (placement of bonds and debt securities) and “lending crowdfunding” (peer-to-peer financing) – will allow the Bank to encourage companies to approach this innovative channel for raising capital, subject, among other things, to the supervision of Consob and created specifically to encourage the development of companies and startups.
At the same time, the choice of Banca Valsabbina is an important point of arrival for Opstart, which further confirms the goodness of the work done over the years with constant commitment and the stability of our business model, in the continuous search for innovation that has always distinguished us.
Over the years, in fact, Opstart has introduced to the market the main innovations in the sector, including the alternative regime of heading of shares and Crowdarena, the first online bulletin board dedicated to the publication of announcements of purchase and sale of quotas and shares of Startups and SMEs that have made equity crowdfunding collections on the portal. In 2019 it then launched the Crowdlisting® platform, through which Italian SMEs have the opportunity to replicate in economy the result of expensive IPOs on the stock exchange, thanks to theunion of equity crowdfunding and direct listing. The invention of the Crowdbridge®, an innovative bridge financing operation, dates back to last year, designed to allow startups and SMEs to obtain capital while waiting for a certain financial event. And the last new entry of the hub is Crowdlegal®, which will deal with Legal Action Crowdfunding®.
Hermes Bianchetti, Head of Business Division at Banca Valsabbina, comments on Banca Valsabbina’s entry into Opstart saying:
“The Bank is particularly sensitive to the needs of local businesses, which often require alternative forms of finance to enable their growth or further development. Through crowdfunding and the portals of Opstart, among the Italian leaders in the sector, companies can raise capital on the market and obtain finance in different forms. There are therefore important synergies with our business model, aimed at SMEs and companies that want to grow and invest. With this new alliance we continue with the “Fintech” strategy, confirming that we believe in the potential of partnerships between the Bank and new market players, while promoting the financing of the real economy, as per our corporate mission”.
Giovanpaolo Arioldi, CEO of Opstart, also comments:
“The entry of Banca Valsabbina in our capital is a decisive milestone. Since the launch of the equity crowdfunding portal, whose sixth birthday we celebrated on Monday, the day in which the news was made public, Opstart has distinguished itself on the market for its ability to bring innovation. We are able to introduce new solutions that respond concretely to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and investors, thanks to our knowledge of the traditional financial market, which I and the other founding partners of Opstart have gained in the field over several years of professional activity. In the same way, our new partner, Banca Valsabbina, is a historical institution, with over 100 years of knowledge of the territory, of companies, of savers. And precisely for this reason it is always attentive and sensitive to the new opportunities it can offer its customers. Our alliance is born from here: from the combination of tradition and innovation“.
