Logitech launches the hunt for its first Swedish Start-Up Partner together with football referee Jonas Eriksson

Tech company Logitech is teaming up with well-known investor and former football referee Jonas Eriksson in the hunt for the “Logitech Start-Up Partner 2022” – an entrepreneurial competition held for the first time in Sweden.

The project is looking for entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas or businesses with the potential to scale-up.

The competition and the partnership between the renowned investor and one of the world’s largest computer equipment and video collaboration companies aims to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and support a new successful company in realising its business idea. Jonas Eriksson’s role will not only be to make a comeback as a judge to select the winner, he will also be part of the prize in the form of a mentoring session, where he will share his knowledge with the winner and give concrete advice and feedback

-I am very much looking forward to being part of this incredibly exciting project, which fits perfectly with my own desire to help promising companies. I will be looking for a combination of a great business idea, a high level of innovation – and above all if there is a lot of passion and burning enthusiasm in the people behind it, says Jonas Eriksson with a little hint on where to focus in the application

His own investments reveal a broad interest, albeit with a slight preponderance of technology-related companies.

Jonas Eriksson is Sweden’s most successful football referee of all time. In parallel, he has made a name for himself as an entrepreneur and investor. In the media, Jonas has appeared in Dragon’s Nest, among other places.

-It’s no secret that I personally love technological gadgets and have invested in everything from AI-driven sports production to drowning alarms. But in this competition, we welcome all entrepreneurial ideas and I’m really looking forward to seeing all the good ones,” says Jonas Eriksson.

The fact that entrepreneur, investor and former football referee Jonas Eriksson was chosen as a partner in the project is no coincidence, explains Line Edlefsen, Nordic Marketing Manager at Logitech Video Collaboration:

-“We are incredibly excited to have Jonas Eriksson on board. He is an experienced entrepreneur and investor with great insight into the opportunities – and challenges – that a young entrepreneur should be aware of. And from his many years with whistle in hand on the football field, he has a special ability to see the potential in other people and a well-trained skill to make wise and important decisions in a short period of time, she explains.

Entrepreneurial spirit and Logitech go hand in hand

Logitech has supported start-ups in Germany in the past by awarding them the coveted title of Logitech Start-Up Partner, but now the race is on to more northerly climes. This is the first time Logitech is holding the competition in the Nordic region.

-Sweden has a lot to offer when it comes to innovation and the most important thing for us is to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit and celebrate the brave entrepreneurs who take the leap and throw themselves into the corporate world. Logitech has been run as a scale-up company since 1981 and is built on an entrepreneurial mindset – even today, where we are an established and successful company, says Line Edlefsen.

Attractive price

It is hoped that the title of the competition and the highly attractive prize will give the winner a push to take the fledgling business on the road to success.

The prize is a Logitech conferencing kit consisting of the all-in-one Rally Bar Mini conference camera, a Tap touchscreen meeting room video conferencing monitor, selected new Logitech products to be launched in the coming year, and a Samsung Ultra Smart TV. In addition, the winner will receive an intensive, personal mentoring session with Jonas Eriksson, where they will have the opportunity to benefit from his best advice and experience as an entrepreneur and investor.

Deadline for applications: 30 June

Interested start-ups and scale-ups can apply to become a Logitech Start-Up Partner 2022 between June 1 and June 30. The application can be submitted as a video, as a presentation or as a PDF directly on Logitech’s website – creativity is welcome. The jury consists of Jonas Eriksson and representatives from Logitech.
