Insurance software company Guidewire announced on 27 October 2026 that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire UK-based Hyperexponential, a provider of agentic underwriting software, for $1.7 billion in cash.
The Deal
The deal is expected to close sometime next year. Counting an additional $400 million reserved if certain revenue targets are hit, it is worth up to about $2.1 billion in total, according to Reuters.
The acquisition is meant to bring AI agents to work alongside humans in underwriting, analysing and pricing decisions.
About Hyperexponential
Founded in 2017, Hyperexponential is backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Battery Ventures and has raised nearly $90 million to date, according to PitchBook, so the sale marks a significant return for its investors. The company says nearly 600 insurers across 40 countries use its software. That figure is the company’s own claim.
