Belarus-Founded Unicorn Flo Health Gets a Strategic Investment from Google Health and a Multi-Year Women’s Health Partnership

Flo Health, the women’s health app created by Belarusian founders and valued at more than $1 billion, has received a strategic investment from Google Health, the health unit of Alphabet. The two companies will also enter a multi-year partnership to build products for women.

The Investment

Flo announced the deal on LinkedIn: “As part of the partnership, Google Health has made a strategic investment in Flo. This is a recognition of the vital importance of women’s health and of the need for specialised tools and solutions that could support it better.”

The size and terms of the investment were not disclosed. The announcement says only that Flo and Google are joining forces for a “multi-year partnership.”

What the Partnership Covers

Flo will become Google Health’s main partner on women’s health and will co-build new products for women. Starting next year, women who choose to link Flo with Google Health will be able to pass Fitbit signals into Flo for more accurate cycle prediction and symptom analysis. The signals include:

  • Sleep
  • Heart rate
  • Heart rate variability
  • Skin temperature
  • Respiratory rate

Information from Flo can in turn be used in Google Health for coaching, reflecting a woman’s current cycle phase and life circumstances.

Flo’s Path to Unicorn Status

Before the Google deal, Flo’s largest investor was the investment firm General Atlantic. In 2024, with its participation, the company raised $200 million at a valuation of more than $1 billion, making it a unicorn. General Atlantic’s leadership had set the goal of taking Flo Health public at a valuation of at least $5 billion.

Google already has history with Belarusian-founded companies. In 2017, the Haxus fund, co-founded by Flo’s current co-owner Yuri Gursky, sold the company AIMatter to Google, along with its neural-network photo background-changing app Fabby. The Flo deal joins a line of tie-ups between Belarusian startups and tech giants such as Facebook, Mail.Ru Group and Pinterest in the 2010s.
