Lund-based MedTech company Suturion has entered an investment agreement with Cradle Growth, which is putting in SEK 20 million (about €1.8M / $2M) through a convertible loan instrument.
The Deal
Cradle Growth is a newly established Nordic growth equity and venture capital firm that invests in early-commercial-stage healthcare and life science companies. Suturion is its third investment since it was established.
At the same time, Suturion is running a rights issue for existing shareholders on terms equivalent to those offered to Cradle, so both existing and new investors can take part. As part of the agreement, Suturion has also committed to broadening its investor base and facilitating a further raise of SEK 10–20 million from new investors.
Fredrik Mattsson, CEO of Cradle Growth, said: “Suturion represents an investment opportunity with a rare combination of cleared regulatory status in key markets, solid IP protection and convincing health economic data in a product category that has not seen much innovation lately.”
Paan Hermansson, CEO of Suturion, said: “Cradle Growth’s investment is a strong validation of both our technology and our commercial strategy. Together with the continued support from our existing shareholders, this financing provides the resources needed to accelerate our market expansion and establish a strong foundation for continued growth in Europe and future expansion into the United States.”
Where the Money Goes
The proceeds will mainly go toward strengthening Suturion’s commercial presence at leading European reference hospitals, driving broader adoption and preparing for expansion into the US. The company is building a network of reference hospitals across Europe, with several product evaluations under way at leading hospitals in the EU and the Middle East. During 2027 it plans to gradually increase its focus on the US market.
