HealthTech Funding: JSK Investments Backs Andromeda Surgical’s Autonomous Surgical Platform in $15M Series A

JSK Investments SICAV a.s., a Czech investment fund, has invested in American MedTech startup Andromeda Surgical as part of its Series A round. The company raised $15 million in the round, bringing its total funding to $30 million. The San Francisco-based firm is developing an autonomous surgical platform designed to expand access to advanced surgical procedures and shorten the steep learning curve for specialized interventions.

The Investment Thesis

Petra Cihlářová, Investment Director of Venture Capital at JSK Investments SICAV a.s., explained what drew the fund to the deal: “What convinced us about Andromeda was the combination of an experienced founding team, a clinically validated product, and a clearly defined problem of global scale. Surgical robotics today can improve precision and ergonomics, but it still runs into a shortage of trained specialists and a long learning curve. Andromeda takes a software-driven approach, and its AI-native platform can progressively learn from every procedure. That combination of technological ambition and a concrete clinical need is exactly what we look for in an investment.”

Simona Kijonková, Chairwoman of the Board and Chief Investment Officer at JSK Investments SICAV a.s., added: “The investment in Andromeda Surgical connects two of our long-term investment priorities: healthcare and cutting-edge technology. Projects that use technological innovation to solve concrete healthcare problems while also having the potential to succeed in the global market are exactly the kind of opportunity we’re looking for.”

The Company

Andromeda Surgical was founded in San Francisco in 2023 by Nick Damiano and Kartik Tiwari, who met through Y Combinator’s Co-Founder Matching programme. Damiano brings experience developing healthcare technologies, while Tiwari brings a background in autonomous vehicles — the two fields coming together in the company’s development of an autonomous surgical platform.

Nick Damiano, Co-Founder and CEO of Andromeda Surgical, commented on the partnership: “JSK is a strong and reliable investment partner for us as we build the future of autonomous surgery. We greatly value their extensive healthcare experience and their network across Europe. On top of that, they’ve built their own company, so they understand firsthand what it takes to build a successful business.”

The Technology

The company’s initial focus is HoLEP, a specialized urological procedure. The platform is designed to shorten surgeon training time and allow hospitals to offer specialized procedures even without a narrowly focused expert on site — addressing both the shortage of trained specialists and the long learning curve that currently limits access to certain advanced surgical interventions.

What’s Next

Andromeda is already entering its commercial phase and will use the Series A capital primarily for regulatory processes, manufacturing and deployment of commercial units, and further development of its autonomous features.
