Warsaw-based deep-tech biotech Science4Beauty, which develops next-generation advanced skincare products built on its proprietary, patented recombinant protein production technology, has closed a €1.6 million investment round. The capital will let the company scale sales, accelerate R&D on additional bioactive molecules for dermatology and aesthetic medicine, and drive international expansion.
The Round
The round was led by 4growth VC, with participation from Hard2beat and business angels.
Tomasz Pasiewicz, Managing Partner at 4growth VC, explained the fund’s thesis: “At 4growth VC, we look for deep-tech companies — particularly in health and life sciences — that seamlessly combine breakthrough science with effective commercial execution. Science4Beauty meets these criteria entirely. The company’s core competitive advantages include its in-house laboratory, intellectual property protected across 10 jurisdictions, and clinical trial-backed product efficacy. Previous grant funding of over PLN 10 million (~€2.3M) from the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) significantly de-risked the technology. We see immense potential in the innovative dermatology market and believe Science4Beauty has all the assets required to become a global player in the smart luxury segment.”
Konrad Trzyna, Managing Partner at Hard2beat, pointed to the platform’s speed to market: “At Hard2beat, we move away from the traditional paradigm where biotech is associated strictly with classic drug discovery, burdened by multi-year development cycles and high regulatory risks. Science4Beauty is a prime example of leveraging synthetic biology and protein engineering for rapid commercialization. Applying advanced recombinant peptide expression — such as the conotoxin-based molecule in the Miorelaxant Magic™ line — delivers targeted, clinically validated products to the market in a fraction of the time typically required by biotech startups. What attracted us is the platform potential of this technology and its entry into the medical-grade skincare market, combining the attractive margin profile of the beauty industry with the high entry barriers of the pharma sector.”
The Technology
Science4Beauty is a biotechnology platform that designs, produces, and purifies recombinant proteins and bioactive peptides in its own genetic engineering laboratory, specializing in active ingredients for advanced skincare and dermatology. Its flagship product line, Miorelaxant Magic™, is powered by a proprietary conotoxin — a bioactive molecule that mimics the mechanism of sea snail venom to relax facial muscles and smooth wrinkles, delivering a needle-free “botox in a cream” effect.
The line’s efficacy has been clinically proven, showing up to a 48% reduction in wrinkle depth. Clinical trials also confirmed a key value proposition for aesthetic medicine clinics: regular application extends the results of botulinum toxin treatments by roughly 60 days.
Magdalena Janczewska, CEO of Science4Beauty, framed the company’s ambitions beyond its current product line: “Science4Beauty is not just a line of finished skincare products, but above all a complete and highly scalable biotechnology platform. Today, we are commercializing the Miorelaxant Magic™ line, which has gained strong recognition among patients and aesthetic medicine practitioners, but our research pipeline extends much further. We are working on new applications for our technology, including treatments for hyperhidrosis and dermatological conditions such as rosacea, as well as innovative delivery systems like microneedle patches. The raised capital will allow us to scale production and efficiently launch distribution channels in key international markets. We are thrilled that VC funds have recognized the uniqueness of our technology and the maturity of our business model.”
Market Potential and Business Model
The investment lands at a pivotal moment for the global anti-aging market, projected to grow from $56 billion in 2025 to $108 billion by 2033, with the fastest-growing segment made up of science-backed clean biotech products offering a non-invasive alternative to traditional aesthetic procedures.
Science4Beauty’s business model rests on two commercialization pillars: B2B sales directly to aesthetic medicine clinics, and direct-to-consumer e-commerce via science4beauty.net. The company has already brought 5 products to market and generated over PLN 500,000 (~€115,000) in revenue in 2025, without any marketing spend.
The Team
Science4Beauty was founded in 2020 by an all-female team of scientists and life-science executives: Magdalena Janczewska, Anna Mazurkiewicz-Pisarek, PhD Eng., Alina Mazurkiewicz, and Agata Stefanek, alongside Prof. Tomasz Ciach, who serves as scientific advisor. The company operates an in-house certified Category I GMM genetic engineering laboratory and holds patent filings across 10 jurisdictions. Earlier R&D was funded by grants from Poland’s National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR).
