Stockholm’s Enginzyme Raises SEK 75M to Bolster Commercial Biomanufacturing Strategy

Enginzyme AB, a Solna-based company developing patented enzyme immobilisation technology for biomanufacturing, has closed a new equity round of preference shares totalling SEK 75 million (€6.6M, $7.6M). The company marked the closing by gathering shareholders, stakeholders, and employees at its offices on September 17.

The Round

Lotus One Investment Pte. Ltd. and Valquest Partners Europe joined as new shareholders and members of the Board of Directors. Sofinnova Partners, Stiftelsen Industrifonden, Navigare Ventures AB, and Almi Invest GreenTech ABwere key participants in the round, combined with several other new and existing shareholders.

Aymeric de Gantes, CEO of Enginzyme, framed the round as a strategic priority: “With our growth strategy established, closing this new investment round was a priority for enginzyme. We are also very excited to welcome new shareholders with complementary expertise, who will all contribute to our mission to deliver biomanufacturing solutions for the personal care, food, and pharmaceutical industries.” He added: “Our technology enables lower cost in use for higher-quality ingredients, obtained through more sustainable manufacturing processes.”

Chatarina Schneider, Chair of the Board, said: “We’re pleased to be progressing at pace with the plan we have set for the company, with a positive dynamic. We thank our existing shareholders and the different people who contributed to this important step.”

Michael Krel, Partner at Sofinnova Partners and an Enginzyme board member since 2020, commented: “After a long journey, it is good to see the company progressing diligently on its conversion to commercial growth. It is also very positive to onboard new shareholders with such a strategic fit.”

Asmita Dwivedi, the board member representing Lotus One Investment Pte. Ltd., added: “I’m glad to support Enginzyme’s breakthrough science, coupled with a clear path to commercial scale and a strong management team. We see this investment as a meaningful step towards making chemistry cleaner and better.”

What This Round Means

The round marks a key milestone in Enginzyme’s shift from R&D to commercial production of biomanufactured products. The company’s enzyme immobilisation technology is aimed at delivering biomanufacturing solutions for the personal care, food, and pharmaceutical industries, positioned around lower cost-in-use for higher-quality ingredients produced through more sustainable manufacturing processes.
