French AI startup Mio has emerged from stealth with €1.9 million ($2.2 million) in pre-Seed funding to accelerate the development of its AI-powered workplace assistant that operates natively within Slack.
The funding round was co-led by Fabric.vc and Topology.vc, with the capital earmarked for expanding Mio’s engineering team, accelerating product development, and growing its customer base across Europe and the United States.
Founded in 2025 by repeat entrepreneur Arthaud Mesnard, Mio is rethinking workplace AI by embedding an intelligent assistant directly into the collaboration tools employees already use every day.
An AI colleague instead of another chatbot
Unlike standalone AI assistants that require users to switch applications, Mio is designed to function as a proactive digital colleague inside Slack.
Rather than waiting for employees to ask questions, the platform continuously understands ongoing conversations, company processes, and connected business systems to automate recurring work and move projects forward.
“We don’t think the future of AI at work is another app people have to open,” said Arthaud Mesnard, founder and CEO of Mio.
“The best colleague already understands what’s happening, knows how your company works, and steps in before you have to ask.”
Built around company knowledge
Mio differentiates itself from general-purpose AI assistants by grounding its responses in a company’s own information rather than relying solely on publicly available data.
The platform can access workplace context from:
- Slack conversations
- Internal documents
- Calendar events
- Support tickets
- Connected business applications
Optional integrations include Google Workspace, Notion, Linear, HubSpot, and GitHub, allowing the AI to complete tasks across multiple business systems instead of simply generating recommendations.
The startup also emphasizes its model-agnostic architecture, selecting the most suitable AI model for each task rather than depending on a single large language model provider.
Privacy-first enterprise AI
Recognizing growing concerns around enterprise AI security, Mio has designed its platform with privacy and compliance at its core.
The company says customer data is not used to train AI models, and access is limited to Slack channels where the Mio application has been explicitly invited, along with direct messages involving the app.
All optional integrations require customer approval before activation.
Mio is also GDPR compliant and operates its infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform in Europe, with encryption applied both during data transmission and while data is stored.
Helping teams save time every week
According to the company, more than 100 organizations—ranging from early-stage startups to Series B technology companies—are already using Mio daily.
Early users reportedly save an average of 8.2 hours per week, equivalent to more than one working day, by automating tasks such as:
- Morning briefings
- Meeting summaries
- CRM updates
- Customer follow-ups
- Reporting
- Data analysis
- Engineering workflows
The company believes workplace AI is moving beyond conversational interfaces toward autonomous agents capable of completing work inside the tools employees already rely on.
“The launch comes as AI shifts from answering questions to getting work done,” the company said. “While the first wave of AI focused on chat interfaces, a new generation of agents is beginning to operate directly inside the tools teams already use.”
With fresh funding and growing early adoption, Mio plans to expand across Europe and the United States as businesses increasingly look for AI solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing workflows rather than adding yet another application to employees’ daily routines.
