Évora, Portugal — Portuguese startup Meight has raised €3.4 million in its latest funding round to accelerate the development of its Intelligent Transport Platform (ITP) and expand operations across Europe. The round was led by Cusp Capital, with additional backing from Grupo Lusiaves, Faber, and EIT Urban Mobility.
Founded in 2021 by CEO Luis Mendes and CTO António Reis, Meight is on a mission to transform the trucking industry through its AI-powered, cloud-based transport management system. Originally inspired by the founders’ passion for motorsports—where precision and speed are critical—the company now applies those same principles to road transport, aiming to enhance efficiency for trucking carriers.
Driving Efficiency for Small Carriers
Meight’s platform is designed to address the needs of the largely underserved 95% of trucking carriers, many of which are small, family-owned businesses. Its comprehensive solution eliminates manual workflows by integrating every phase of the freight process—from booking and route planning to dispatch and real-time monitoring.
The Intelligent Transport Platform enables automated dispatching, hands-free operational planning, and advanced route optimisation. Features like real-time monitoring and proprietary fuel-saving tools deliver measurable cost reductions, making it a valuable asset for logistics firms across Europe.
“We are thrilled to have Cusp Capital lead this funding round, alongside the continued support from Grupo Lusiaves, Faber, and EIT Urban Mobility,” said Luis Mendes, CEO and co-founder of Meight. “This investment allows us to expand our footprint across Europe and double down on our AI-powered freight planning, which already helps trucking companies save fuel, money, and time.”
A Growing Market Opportunity
The road freight industry is a critical part of Europe’s logistics ecosystem, with over 500,000 carriers responsible for moving 77% of inland freight. Meight’s technology empowers these carriers with automation and intelligence, providing an immediate return on investment through its fuel-saving features.
Dr. Maximilian Rowoldt, General Partner at Cusp Capital, highlighted Meight’s potential: “Road freight carriers are the backbone of logistics. Meight’s system of intelligence not only improves efficiency but also delivers direct ROI for customers. We’re impressed by their vision and product traction and are excited to support their journey in building the future of trucking.”
The Future of Trucking
Meight plans to use the €3.4 million investment to enhance its platform’s capabilities, expand across key European markets, and accelerate the industry’s digital transformation. With a focus on small-to-medium carriers, Meight aims to streamline operations, optimise resource allocation, and modernise the road freight sector with fully automated, paperless solutions.
By combining advanced AI-driven tools with real-time insights, Meight positions itself at the forefront of innovation in transport management—bringing precision from the race track to the road, and reshaping the future of logistics.
