Stockholm-based life science company expands clinically validated nutrition portfolio for preterm infants
Neobiomics, a Swedish life science company focused on evidence-based nutritional products for preterm and medically vulnerable infants, has secured a new funding round led by HealthCap.
The investment amount was not disclosed. It is intended to support the company’s international expansion, commercial scaling, and continued development of neonatal and pediatric nutrition products.
Strengthening care for preterm infants through clinical nutrition
Founded in 2016 and based at the Karolinska Institutet Science Park in Stockholm, Neobiomics develops clinically documented nutritional solutions for neonatal intensive care settings.
Its product portfolio includes:
- ProPrems®, a probiotic blend used in neonatal care across Europe and the Middle East
- NeoMega36®, a lipid-based nutritional product enriched with DHA and arachidonic acid, launched in 2024
These products are designed for preterm infants, where nutritional precision plays a critical role in long-term developmental outcomes.
HealthCap leads investment and joins governance
HealthCap, one of Europe’s most established life science venture capital firms, led the round and will also strengthen Neobiomics’ board through the appointment of Managing Partner Mårten Steen.
The firm has a long track record in scaling biotech and medtech companies across Europe and globally, with a focus on therapies and technologies addressing high unmet medical needs.
Scaling internationally in neonatal healthcare
Neobiomics plans to use the new capital to expand its commercial footprint and strengthen distribution in international markets.
CEO Emma Höglund emphasized the importance of translating clinical evidence into widely accessible neonatal care solutions:
“We are building a company with a clear mission: to translate clinical evidence into products designed for the most vulnerable patients.”
The company already reports usage of its products in neonatal intensive care units across multiple regions and continues to grow its regulatory and distribution capabilities, including authorization for broader hospital supply channels.
A growing Nordic life sciences player
Neobiomics has been recognized for its rapid growth in the European life sciences ecosystem, including receiving the Swecare Export Rising Star award and being named a DI Gasell company.
Its strategy reflects a broader Nordic trend in biotech: combining academic research ecosystems (such as Karolinska Institutet) with venture-backed commercialization of specialized clinical products.
