German AI Startup paretos Secures €8.5 Million to Lead in Decision Intelligence

Heidelberg, Germany – paretos, a prominent player in the field of Decision Intelligence, has successfully concluded its Series A funding round, securing an impressive €8.5 million. This investment is spearheaded by Acton Capital, known for its portfolio including successful companies like Etsy and Cyberport, with participation from existing investors UVC Partners and LEA Partners.

The funding round also sees contributions from notable funds and angel investors, including Interface Capital, led by Niklas Jansen of Blinkist and Christian Reber of Wunderlist, as well as former Vodafone CEO Hannes Ametsreiter.

“While many AI technologies are still in the hype phase, paretos has impressively demonstrated that their Decision Intelligence solution creates long-term value for companies, directly reflecting in business results,” said Fritz Oidtmann, Managing Partner at Acton Capital. “In today’s challenging economic climate, this technology is a game-changer for real-world AI applications. We look forward to accompanying the team in the next phase and shaping the future of the market together.”

Recognized by Gartner as one of only nine representative Decision Intelligence providers in Europe, paretos currently assists market leaders such as HelloFresh, Otto Group, Faller Packaging, ARMEDANGELS, and EDEKA with their critical business decisions.

The company’s co-founders, Thorsten Heilig and Fabian Rang, aim to utilize the new funds to accelerate growth and technological advancement. “Our platform typically delivers an ROI of over 100% in the first year, generating millions in business impact,” said Heilig, who serves as CEO. “With our investors’ support, we are poised to expand our technological lead. Many companies in Germany and Europe face significant pressures, and we offer a powerful tool to tackle urgent challenges—from evolving customer demands to complex supply chains and cost efficiencies.”

According to MarketsandMarkets, the global Decision Intelligence market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 25%, potentially reaching €50 billion by 2030. This emerging field leverages AI to support, optimize, and even automate complex, data-driven decisions, shifting the focus from merely making predictions to generating actionable insights and concrete measures, particularly in dynamic planning and operational processes. Experts consider its significance comparable to that of Generative AI.

“With its patented and highly innovative technology and strong application focus, paretos is well-positioned to take on an international leadership role,” stated Andreas Unseld, General Partner at UVC Partners. Nils Seele, Partner at LEA Partners, emphasized, “After conceptualizing AI, it’s now about transformation. Anyone seeking ROI in AI applications will find it at paretos.”
