SAN SEBASTIÁN, Spain — Multiverse Computing, a Spanish AI scale-up specializing in efficient and sovereign artificial intelligence, has raised €500 million ($570 million) in a Series C funding round at a €1.5 billion pre-money valuation, officially joining Europe’s unicorn club.
The investment is one of the largest AI funding rounds ever completed by a European startup and brings the company’s total funding to more than €700 million.
The round was co-led by Forgepoint Capital International, BNPP SIVF, and Bullhound Capital, with participation from a broad group of strategic and institutional investors, including HP Inc., Orange Ventures, Santander Alternative Investments, Tikehau Capital, the EIC Fund, and the Government of the Basque Country, among others.
Making AI Smaller, Faster, and More Efficient
Founded in 2019, Multiverse Computing develops software that dramatically reduces the size and computational requirements of large AI models without significantly affecting performance.
At the core of its platform is CompactifAI, a proprietary compression technology based on tensor networks, a mathematical framework originating from quantum physics.
According to the company, the technology can reduce the size of large language models (LLMs) by 80% to 95% while maintaining nearly the same level of accuracy.
This enables advanced AI models to run on smartphones, edge devices, private data centers, industrial systems, and other environments where traditional cloud-based AI infrastructure is impractical or too expensive.
Advancing Sovereign AI
Multiverse Computing positions itself at the forefront of the growing sovereign AI movement, which focuses on enabling governments and enterprises to deploy artificial intelligence while maintaining full control over data, infrastructure, and regulatory compliance.
Rather than requiring organizations to send sensitive information to hyperscale cloud providers, the company’s platform allows AI workloads to run locally or within sovereign infrastructure.
Its software automatically determines whether tasks should execute on local devices, private infrastructure, or the cloud, optimizing both performance and operating costs.
From Model Compression to AI Infrastructure
Beyond AI model optimization, Multiverse is expanding into a broader software platform supporting next-generation AI infrastructure.
The company is developing integrated solutions for AI factories and data centers that combine model compression, GPU orchestration, deployment management, and sovereign-grade security into a unified operating environment.
According to CEO and co-founder Enrique Lizaso, advances in model compression have eliminated the long-held assumption that powerful AI requires increasingly expensive computing infrastructure.
He believes efficient AI can now operate across virtually any environment—from smartphones and manufacturing facilities to secure government data centers.
Rapid Growth Since Series B
Multiverse has experienced exceptional commercial momentum following its €189 million Series B announced in 2025.
The company reports more than 10-fold annualized revenue growth since that round and a 96-fold increase in year-over-year sales during the first quarter of 2026, making it one of Europe’s fastest-growing AI infrastructure companies.
Its technology is already deployed across millions of devices, including satellites, drones, industrial systems, telecommunications infrastructure, vehicles, cameras, and AI-powered PCs.
Customers span multiple industries, including manufacturing, finance, energy, aerospace, cybersecurity, defence, telecommunications, and life sciences.
Global Expansion Plans
The new funding will support continued research into proprietary AI algorithms, expansion of Multiverse’s library of highly efficient AI models, investment in sovereign AI infrastructure, and international growth.
The company plans to strengthen its presence across East Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Canada, and the United States as demand grows for secure, energy-efficient AI deployment.
As governments and enterprises seek alternatives to centralized cloud AI, Multiverse Computing is positioning itself as one of Europe’s leading providers of efficient, sovereign artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The milestone also reinforces Spain’s growing role in Europe’s AI ecosystem, with Multiverse becoming one of the continent’s most valuable artificial intelligence companies.
