Austria’s Sodex Innovations raises €4M to automate construction-site surveying with AI

Austria’s Sodex Innovations secures €4 million to scale automated construction-site surveying

Austrian ConTech startup Sodex Innovations has secured €4 million in funding to accelerate the international expansion of its AI-powered surveying platform, which automates measurement, mapping, and documentation across construction sites, infrastructure projects, and mining operations.

The funding round was led by Capmont Technology, with participation from BloomhausLook AI Ventures, and Superangels. Existing investors SOSVOMA, and 12 Rounds Capital also participated in the round.

The new capital will enable the company to expand its team, enhance its product portfolio, and scale its technology internationally.

Turning construction equipment into real-time data collectors

Founded in 2021 in Vorarlberg, Austria, Sodex Innovations has developed a platform that automates one of construction’s most time-consuming processes: surveying and site documentation.

Instead of relying on manual measurements and periodic site inspections, the company’s technology transforms construction machinery into mobile data collection systems.

As equipment moves across a site, it continuously captures information including:

  • Terrain changes
  • Material movements
  • Construction progress
  • Earthworks and excavation data

The collected information is automatically uploaded to Sodex’s cloud platform, where it is converted into digital maps, quantity calculations, progress reports, and real-time project documentation.

This enables contractors, engineers, and project managers to monitor site activity continuously while reducing manual surveying work.

Helping construction companies improve productivity

Construction projects increasingly face pressure to deliver faster while maintaining tighter budgets and meeting growing documentation requirements.

Sodex believes its platform helps address these challenges by providing accurate, real-time operational data that improves project visibility and decision-making.

For customers, the technology offers several advantages:

  • Reduced manual surveying
  • Faster project documentation
  • More accurate quantity calculations
  • Improved project monitoring
  • Better planning based on real-time site data
  • Fewer delays caused by missing or outdated information

The company says its platform currently serves more than 100 customers across Europe, the United States, and Australia.

Investors back the future of digital construction

The investment reflects growing interest in technologies that digitize traditionally manual construction processes.

“Real-time updates directly from the construction site have become a central starting point and are now indispensable for many of our customers,” said Ralf Pfefferkorn, CEO and co-founder of Sodex Innovations.

“With this funding, we can not only expand our team but also our portfolio and scale internationally much more quickly.”

Lead investor Capmont Technology believes the company’s combination of hardware, software, AI, and data analytics has the potential to significantly improve productivity across the construction industry.

“For the first time, Sodex makes physical construction activity measurable and controllable in real time,” said Michael Wittner, Partner at Capmont Technology.

“The combination of hardware, software, data and AI creates the foundation for a real leap in productivity—something the industry has needed for a long time.”

Part of a growing wave of construction technology investment

Sodex’s funding comes amid continued investment in Europe’s construction technology sector, where startups are developing AI-powered software, automation tools, digital surveying platforms, and sustainable building technologies.

As construction companies increasingly adopt digital workflows to improve efficiency and reduce project risk, technologies capable of delivering real-time operational data are becoming an important part of modern construction management.

With fresh funding and an expanding international customer base, Sodex Innovations aims to strengthen its position as a provider of automated surveying and construction intelligence solutions for infrastructure, mining, and large-scale building projects across global markets.
