Stockholm-based Neko Health raises €612.7M Series C to bring AI-powered preventive healthcare to the US

Swedish HealthTech company Neko Health has secured €612.7 million ($700 million) in Series C funding as it prepares to launch its first clinics in the United States and accelerate investment in preventive healthcare technology and clinical research.

The funding round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and co-led by O.G. Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors including AtomicoGeneral Catalyst, and Lakestar, alongside new investors Liberty City VenturesPositive Sum, and BDT & MSD.

The latest raise comes just 18 months after the company closed its €250 million Series B round and marks another major milestone for one of Europe’s fastest-growing digital health companies.

Founded by Spotify’s Daniel Ek

Neko Health was founded in 2023 by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek, CEO and co-founder of Spotify, with a mission to transform healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive prevention.

Instead of waiting until symptoms appear, Neko focuses on detecting health risks early through advanced medical technology, clinical expertise, and continuous monitoring.

“Our goal from day one has been to create a completely new healthcare experience designed to keep people healthy, catch problems early and help prevent disease before it even starts,” said Hjalmar Nilsonne, co-founder and CEO of Neko Health.

“With this funding, we’re taking that mission to the US while continuing to invest in the research and technology that make prevention possible at scale.”

A 60-minute health scan powered by proprietary technology

At the center of Neko’s offering is the Neko Health Scan—a comprehensive, non-invasive, radiation-free health assessment that takes approximately one hour.

The scan combines proprietary sensors with blood analysis to collect millions of health data points, evaluating:

  • Skin health and mole detection
  • Blood biomarkers
  • Prediabetes risk
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Metabolic syndrome indicators
  • Stroke and heart attack risk factors

Patients receive their results within minutes during an in-person consultation with a medical professional, along with personalized recommendations for improving their health.

The service currently costs 2,750 SEK (€248.8) in Sweden and £299 (€350.8) in the UK.

Expanding into the United States

Following the Series C funding, Neko Health plans to open its first US clinics later this year, beginning with New Yorkbefore expanding into additional American cities.

The company will also continue investing heavily in clinical research and proprietary technology that powers its preventative healthcare model.

Recent product developments include new body composition analysis capabilities, integration of wearable health data into clinician reviews, and the rollout of a new generation of proprietary medical devices—Derma-2Echo-2, and Spectrum-2—designed to capture higher-quality health signals across skin, cardiovascular health, and circulation.

Because Neko develops its hardware, software, and customer experience entirely in-house, the company says it can rapidly improve its technology while maintaining a seamless patient experience.

Strong consumer demand

Since launching in February 2023, Neko Health has expanded across Sweden and the United Kingdom, operating clinics in Stockholm, London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

The company reports impressive early traction:

  • More than 350,000 people have registered for a Neko Health Scan
  • Over 100,000 members have completed a scan
  • Approximately 75% of customers book and prepay for their next annual scan before leaving the clinic

Clinical outcomes also suggest the platform is delivering measurable health benefits. According to Neko, three out of four returning members previously identified with severe or life-threatening conditions were either in good health or had their conditions successfully managed by the time of their follow-up scan. Across returning patients, five of seven key health biomarkers showed statistically significant improvement.

Backed by leading investors and global entrepreneurs

The funding round attracted an extensive roster of high-profile investors and entrepreneurs.

Alongside institutional investors, the round included participation from Maria SharapovaMark Zuckerberg and Priscilla ChanThierry HenryClaudia SchifferDanny MeyerJimmy IovineTim Ferriss, and will.i.am. Existing supporters include Alexis OhanianGary VaynerchukSteven Bartlett, and several other prominent technology and healthcare investors.

Commenting on the investment, Bejul Somaia, Global Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, said:

“Neko Health has demonstrated remarkable innovation and growth, combining breakthrough technology, strong consumer demand and a clear path to global scale. We believe this is one of the most important healthcare companies of our generation.”

With fresh funding, expanding international operations, and growing consumer adoption, Neko Health is positioning itself as one of Europe’s leading innovators in preventive healthcare—bringing AI-powered health screening to a global audience while redefining how healthcare is delivered.
