Swedish FinTech startup Float has secured €4.5 million in Series A funding to expand its non-dilutive financing solutions and build an AI-powered financial operating platform for technology SMEs across Europe.
The investment round was led by CHAPTERS Group AG, a Hamburg-based investment company focused on acquiring and supporting mission-critical software businesses. As part of the investment, Jan-Hendrik Mohr, CEO of CHAPTERS Group, will join Float’s board of directors.
The new funding will help Float accelerate product development, double its team, expand further into the UK market, and explore strategic acquisitions as it broadens its financial services offering.
Building an AI-native financial platform for European founders
Founded in 2019 by Swiss entrepreneur Cedric Notz and German entrepreneur Jannis Koehn, Float combines revenue-based financing, credit lines, and AI-powered financial management tools to help technology companies grow without diluting ownership.
The company aims to solve one of Europe’s biggest startup challenges: limited access to flexible growth capital.
Instead of relying on traditional venture capital, Float enables B2B SaaS and subscription businesses to access non-dilutive financing, allowing founders to scale while retaining full control of their companies.
“Our investment in Float underlines our positive view on the European tech industry,” said Jan-Hendrik Mohr, CEO of CHAPTERS Group AG.
“Float’s financing service already gives tech SMEs a reliable means of scaling their business. As the company expands its offering and explores competitor acquisitions, it is becoming a driver of a much larger vision to empower founders across Europe.”
Beyond lending: AI-powered financial operations
While lending remains at the core of the business, Float is expanding into a broader AI-native financial operating platform.
The upcoming platform will integrate directly with customers’ bank accounts and accounting systems, providing real-time financial insights while automating key financial processes such as:
- Payments
- Expense management
- Accounting workflows
- Financial analysis
- Cash-flow management
By combining financing with automation, Float aims to simplify financial operations for fast-growing technology companies.
Fixing Europe’s startup funding gap
According to CEO and co-founder Cedric Notz, the current financial system is poorly suited for modern technology businesses.
“The current global financial system is fundamentally broken for modern tech companies. While startups operate internationally from day one, banking remains stubbornly localised, bogged down by manual bureaucracy and fragmented tools.”
Drawing on his own experience as a founder, Notz believes European entrepreneurs should not have to choose between giving away equity and relocating abroad to access growth capital.
“Our ambition runs far wider than fixing financing. We are building the new backbone for European tech—capital, banking and data in a single AI-native financial platform. For too long Europe’s best founders have faced one brutal choice: give away their company or leave for America. We want founders to succeed here in Europe.”
Strong growth and expansion plans
Since becoming operational in 2022, Float has provided more than €100 million in financing to over 130 European technology companies, including businesses such as RoomPriceGenie and RedTrack.
The company reports:
- More than 100% year-over-year revenue growth since launch
- Over 130 funded technology companies
- More than €100 million deployed over the past three years
- Net profitability achieved in 2026
With fresh funding and strategic backing from CHAPTERS Group, Float plans to strengthen its position in the UK—currently its largest market—while expanding across Europe and evolving into a comprehensive financial operating system built specifically for technology founders.
